LGBT Rights are Human Rights

Posted by freaks-heart - June 6th, 2022

Happy Pride Month, everyone! as you could probably guess by the bandana my Roblox avatar has, I am Pansexual. As of lately, I've been noticing an uptick in people in other websites spouting homophobic and transphobic rhetoric. Some of these people are calling for conversion therapy and forced detransition, or even executing people for the crime of being gay and trans. I fully expect that this is going to lead to more hate crimes and murders committed against LGBT people and government policy turning against LGBT people to make life more miserable for them.

That sucks!

I will always, always, ALWAYS support my fellow LGBT people and stand up against homophobia and transphobia wherever I see it. If in the off chance there's someone here who doesn't like that (not very likely), then I don't really want anything to do with you if you're going to be homophobic and/or transphobic.

Part of the problem is less what they say and more why they say it. Whether it's racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and so on, no matter how flimsy of an exxuse, one comes up with, no one hates without reason unless they're sociopaths looking for cheap thrills. Often this hatred is divided into three groups.

1. The big one. Strict religious nuts. Now not everyone, be it Christian, Muslim, Jewish and so on, hates LGBTQ+. Some rationalized in their own way that God loves everyone and act accordingly. The ones that do hate them are the ones that think it's an actual sin and believe that supporting let alone being one earns a one way trip to Hell. You can't change that view point no matter what you try. You can villify them in an effort to set an example for those of the same religion, but are more open to it. But that to said strict groups "Justifies" their attrocities. As far as they ate concerned they believe themselves to be the heroes. So why would they listen to people they already think are evil to begin with.

2. Bad experience false blamers. These are people whom for some reason or another had a bad experience with certain demographics. It varies if this happened along with a severe trauma. But essentially said experience taints their view on the demographic as a whole rather than either blame their own ignorance or the idiot that made them look bad. That said it's easier to change those people. Just really stubborn.

3. Those that fear change in general. Unlike the first two, who show direct hate. These ones are the worst because if anything their overall viewpoint merely uses what's popular at the time to scapegoat for their problems in general. They'd blame Black people one day, Muslims the next. So needless to say, they would blame the LGBTQ+ for things changing in the world. Can't really change them either. Best you can do is show the positives of said changing or find a popular scapegoat to sic them on.
